I've been beaten over the head
by a book with a cross on the cover
I've been stomped to the ground
by a man with a white collar
I've been told I'm going to hell
by more people who call themselves "saints"
Their God may be all about "love",
but we all know that they ain't
Leviticus is a threat
that's constantly spit in our face
Their trolling on social media
is like a NASCAR race
Round and round they go,
patting themselves on the back
Saying "I'll pray for you"
like it's an all out attack
They weaponize their beliefs
and try to force it upon others
But when met with resistance
they recite "Sodom and Gomorrah"
They say the Bible is
"the inerrant word of God"
Yet completely disregard
Jesus saying "love one another"
I'm tired of the bruises
I'm tired of the hate
Never once have I said to you
That you have to be gay
Never once have I told you
that you have to believe like me
"Live and let live"
Is that such a hard concept for you to see?

Meaning:
Inspiration for this poem came after I saw a church sign last week that said "prayer is a weapon that should never be concealed" and now I feel like it's the crusades all over again.
