My Poetry - Holy War

Yo, I wanna put you into a scenario
One that means a lot to me, so...
Ya see, I suffer from depression
And just like Mick Jagger, I can't get no satisfaction

Because the world's been dark for a long, long time
And I've been charged with an insoluble crime
So shackle my wrists, while my hands remain fists
And I'll step forward and face my crime

I'm tired of the whole world judging me
Telling me who I am and what I should be
I'm not sorry that I don't fit into your narrative
But I've lit-er-al-ly run out of fucks to give

This is not about my skin color
This is not about who I love
It's all about the hatred in your cold, black heart
And that you can't see that I'm a work of art

So as I struggle with who I am and who I want to be
The blackness that keeps enveloping me
I hold my sword to the heavens, and scream out "d'Artagnan"
And pretend the Musketeers are following

Ya see, this is more than just some holy war
It's a battle for my soul, and I'm the Knights Templar
You can arrest me, molest me, charge me with heresy
But I won't back down, I'll come back for more

So pick up your sword and prepare to fight
But you won't see me coming, for I'm the Black Knight
The victory will be sweet, I will revel in your defeat
I'm so strong, the Round Table will be bowing to me

This is all about my skin color
This is all about who I love
This is a fight that's hist'ry in the making
And you're on the wrong side of it, so make haste, cuz change is coming

MEANING:
When your muse hits, it doesn't matter what time it is, if you don't get it down then you lose it, and I didn't want to lose this. Woke up at 4:30am and couldn't sleep because this hit me and I had to get it out. Been watching Hamilton and it has inspired me. I haven't listened to old school hip hop and rap in ages, but this just kinda flowed out of me.  So as you read it, play it in your mind as a rap, but also with someone singing the last of each line in the even verses. Think... Linkin Park.

My Poetry - Morality Greyed

Up is up and down is down
Or up is down and down is up
It doesn't matter because it's all fucked up

Do you want the truth?
Or do you want a lie?
It doesn't matter, cuz we're all gonna die

There will be a day
Where you're stuck in the whey
The curd is in the chaff on the darkest day

Because you know that life is morally grey.
Is morally grey?
Is morally grey!

My Poetry - Not Ready

I sit here and listen to the train go by
M83 plays on the radio
They sing of "no time"
The realization hits that there is no time
There is never enough time
The whistle of the train covers the sound of my sobs
The loves of my life are gone with the tide
Oblivion comes on next
The nights are long
My tears stain my cheeks, my pillow, my sheets
I'm not ready to say goodbye
"And when the nights are long
All those stars recall, your goodbye, your goodbye"
I'm calling to them
I still need you
I'm not ready to say goodbye
I'm not ready to say goodnight
