There's this sinking feeling in my gut
And an empty hole inside my heart
I miss her more than life itself
Without her, life leaves little else
I struggle to make it through each day
Everything reminds me of all her ways
I feel like I can't measure up
I'm not the daughter that she would want
But it's ok, I know my way
Though it differs from her every single day
I will always love her more than anything
I just wanted her to be more accepting
Unfortunately I never got her strength,
Her way with numbers or cleanliness
But I am strong in my beliefs
And I definitely got her stubbornness
Though we weren't a perfect match
And our opposites did not attract
I would traverse the heavens and the earth
To just have one more hug from her
I hope she knows I miss her much
That every day without her sucks
And that one day when we meet in heaven
I'm not letting go... ever again

MEANING: 6 years ago today is the day they admitted my mom to the hospital. In the wee hours we would get the call that she is unresponsive and wouldn't live through the night. She woke up and lived 10 days more, allowing her family the opportunity to say goodbye. I am so blessed and thankful for that. I wrote this poem this morning.
