My Short Story - Spiderman Fanfic - Spiderman 2 and a Half

Ok, Spiderman 2 inspired me to write some fic, so here goes. Warning... it contains spoilers and it's kinda long... 4 pages... just over 1600 words.

Setup - takes place right where Spiderman 2 left off... and I mean right where. Heh.

Spiderman 2 and a Half

“Go get ‘em tiger,” were the last words he heard from her lips as he swooped down chasing after the fire trucks that just shot by.

He just loved that feeling of flying through the air, as the jets of spider web flashed out from his wrists. It still twinged a bit every time he did it. This little odd feeling, but it was worth it. Totally!

So as he swung and caught up with the fire trucks, he saw what the fuss was all about. Two armed robbers were holding a woman hostage. He knew he had to do something, and knew exactly what to do. Then it should be easy and done with, and he could go back to MJ, and finish their little talk.

He doubled back behind them, and grasped onto the wall, using his spider reflexes and climbed down to right behind them, then deftly lowered himself to the ground. Before the robbers knew what was up, he had spun a web and snatched their guns away from them, then spun another web tying them together for the cops, all nice and tight.

What he didn’t count on was another robber, standing just inside the bank that came out and shot the woman in the chest killing her, then held the gun up to his head. Peter knew he’d have to be fast to get out of the way of this. He didn’t know just how well his Spidey attributes could do against a bullet to the head, so he decided to be patient about it.

The man put his arm around his neck and squeezed him, brought him back into the bank, but not once did his hand loosen on the gun, nor did it move one iota from his temple.

There must have been a few more of the robbers in the bank, because he kept seeing arms flash across his vision… but they were incredibly close to his captor. Plus his arms were already bound. All of a sudden, he saw the butt of a gun flash and hit him square in the temple… and that’s the last thing he remembered.

He awoke to the sound of drilling, not sure where it was coming from, his vision was incredibly blurry. Had he lost his Spidey Senses yet again? He tried shooting a web, not that it went anywhere that he could see, seeing that his hands were tied behind his back. Nope, Spidey Senses still working.

He tried moving, and couldn’t get anywhere, but from what he could tell, we was lying in some makeshift cot. Suddenly he felt something move, and lift him up, and his eyes came to focus on what he’d never seen before, but after Octavius and Osborn, he’d believe anything.

It was a… a… he didn’t know what it was. Definitely a mutant of some sort. A cross between a lion and a human, but with two big arms, and about 4 smaller ones.

“Hi there!”
“Uh… hi,” Peter responded, rubbing his cheek on his shoulder, checking to see if his mask was still on. To which he made a little sigh of relief to find it there in one piece.

“You’re a nifty little fella, one might think you was Spiderman. But then, Spiderman is just too good for me to catch, so you can’t be him now… could ya?” the… thing, said in a gruff voice.

“Ah… funnily enough, yeah, it’s me, your friendly neighborhood Spiderman. But how’s about you untie me, and we shake hands and be on our merry way?”

The creature bellowed, so loud you’d think the entire neighborhood would have heard it.

“How’s about we don’t and say we did.” The creature smiled, then stared straight at him. “See, this here man paid me to bring you to him, and that’s just what I’m going to do. You might know him… on the count that you killed his father.”

Peter muttered under his breath.

“Yeah, that’s his name, Harry. Good memory you got. Me, can’t remember hardly a thing. Harry’s on his way to pick you up now, apparently was at a wedding… but the bride never showed. So you just wait right here, and he’ll be here in a little bit.”

The lion man walked over to the other side of the room and sat down, yet kept his eye on Peter the entire time. It almost looked as if he was salivating over him. Great. He sure didn’t want to be his next meal.

A loud crash woke him up, and he looked up just in time to see a knife slam down on the top of his head, he leaned back, and the knife just grazed his cheek.

“You killed my father!”

With that, Harry punched Peter in the stomach, taking all his air out, and left him gasping for breath as he tried to roll on the ground away from him. Whatever the Lion boy had him tied up in, there was no way he was breaking it.

Harry saw him struggle and smiled.

“There’s no way you can break that. It’s the newest thing on the market at Oscorp. I made it just for yo- well, for Spiderman anyway. But who knew my best friend would turn out to be him?”

“Harr-” he tried to get out as Harry backhanded him. “You gotta listen to me Harry… OOMPH.”

Harry kept hitting and hitting, and Peter with his hands still tied, not able to deflect. The only thing he could do was fall to the ground.

He saw Harry grab the knife again, and went to strike, and as he did, Peter leapt in the air, timing it just right, for Harry’s downswing. As he struck, the knife tore some of the braids of this super rope, but also getting Peter’s skin. He let out a gasp, and Harry smiling at that, not realizing he’d just cut into the rope.

Peter, hearing the threads popped, thought if he could keep this up, he might be able to get Harry to cut the rope a bit more, then he could get out of it. The plan went perfectly, and as Harry swung the final time, it dug deeper into Peter’s back. Blood was pouring out, and the Lion man went ballistic, coming over to lick up all the blood and gnarl at Spiderman.

Harry kept the mutant at bay with a kick to the ribs, and he backed off, and that’s when he saw the rope pop, and Peter writhing to get out of his dungeon.

“Oh no you don’t!”

Peter looked up and saw Harry flip the knife in his hand, and run straight at him. He struggled to get his hands up, but to no avail. The knife gleaned, and Harry ran straight at him, and just at the last second, got one of his hands free and grabbed Harry’s wrist as the knife indented his forehead. Harry looked at him in shock, and Peter wrestled the knife out of his hand, and threw it at the lion man who was advancing on him.

“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!” Harry cried, knowing that he just lost the fight.

Peter wrestled out of the rest of the rope and pushed Harry to the ground, who sat there immobile. The Lion man charged, and Peter swerved and hit him, karate chop style, to the back of his neck, and had the Lion man go down whimpering.

He turned back to Harry, who was just gazing up at him like a lost little boy. He grabbed his mask and tore it off, wanting to look Harry in the eyes. He grabbed Harry and pulled him up, and came within inches of his face.

“I know you hate me. And after all I’ve done, I can’t blame you. But just know this, it was self defense. Your father KILLED people. He was a psycho. So blame me all you want, if that will help you sleep better at night, but know that every time you come after me, in this little vendetta of yours, you will never win!”

A tear sprang from his cheek and he set Harry back down.

“Harry, you are like a brother to me… why do you hate me now?”

Harry just stared up at him, and Peter swore he could see his father in his eyes… and even a flash of green, but it must have just been his imagination.

Still no answer, so Peter just shook his head, picked up the knife and threw it at Harry, who just looked down at it.

“If you truly want to kill me, do it now. Or else I’m tired of playing this foolish game.”

Nothing. So he turned and left, and heard a brief motion and turned around just in time to grab the flying blade out of thin air and knock it to the ground.

“For a person that hated his father so much, you sure are taking after him,” he said as he grabbed his mask and put it on, and walked out of the building and left.

What he got when he got back to his apartment was much worse; a smack to the back of the head.

“What, you can’t call? You had me worried sick!”

“I’m sorry MJ, I had a few things to take care of first.”

“Well still, you should have called,” she leaned over and kissed the spot she just hit. “I’m sorry.”

“It’s ok, I’m just a little sore there.”

If she only knew.

“Have you talked to Harry lately? He seems really depressed.”

If she only knew.
